Pharmacology is study of the effects of drugs and chemicals on living organisms, including their origin, composition, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, therapeutic use, and toxicology. As an integral part of the medical curriculum, the department bridges the gap between basic medical sciences and clinical practice, ensuring that future healthcare professionals are well-equipped with a profound understanding of drug actions and their therapeutic implications.

Department of Pharmacology, apart from Undergraduate, Post graduate teaching and research work, also contributing in implementation of Pharmacovigilance and Materovigilance program of Govt of India. It has also significant role in conducting Drugs and Therapeutic Committee meeting, Prescription audit and Anti-microbial stewardship program.

The research activities of the department focus both in Laboratory based research as well as Clinical research in collaboration with other departments. As Member Secretary of Institute Ethics Committee, HOD Pharmacology also has the responsibility of organising IEC meeting, screening of research protocols, evaluation and monitoring research activities.
