The Inpatient Department (IPD) at Government Medical College & Hospital, Phulbani, provides comprehensive care for patients requiring hospital admission and continuous medical supervision. With modern infrastructure and a 500-bed capacity, the IPD is designed to accommodate patients from various clinical departments including General Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Orthopedics, and other specialties. The facility ensures 24×7 monitoring, treatment, and nursing care for both emergency and elective admissions.

Each ward is equipped with essential medical equipment, sanitation facilities, and a dedicated team of healthcare professionals. The hospital also includes separate wards for male and female patients, pediatric care units, maternity services, and intensive care units (ICUs) for critical cases. A multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, and support staff work collaboratively to deliver quality inpatient care, tailored to the medical needs of each patient.

Patients are admitted either through the OPD referral process or via the Emergency/Casualty Department in urgent situations. During their stay, all prescribed investigations, medications, and treatments are managed under the supervision of qualified medical officers and consultants. Patient safety, comfort, and recovery are prioritized through continuous observation, timely interventions, and post-discharge counseling.

The IPD services reflect the hospital’s commitment to delivering ethical, affordable, and reliable healthcare to the people of Kandhamal and surrounding areas, ensuring no one is denied care due to distance or financial limitations.
